Aryan Shah, a 19-year-old tennis prodigy from Ahmedabad, has ascended to the position of India’s No. 2 in men’s singles as per the ATP rankings released on May 5, 2025. This achievement follows his remarkable victory at the ITF M25 Ahmedabad tournament, where he defeated top-seeded Jay Clarke (ATP 298) with a commanding 6–1, 6–3 scoreline, ending Clarke’s 14-match winning streak.
This triumph not only marked Shah’s second professional singles title but also his first at the M25 level, propelling him into the ATP Top 450 and making him the 11th youngest player globally within this elite bracket.
Shah’s rapid ascent in the rankings is particularly noteworthy given the financial constraints he faces. Without major sponsorships, he strategically selects tournaments to balance performance goals with budgetary considerations. Despite these challenges, his consistent performances have earned him a spot in the ATP Next Gen Accelerator program, granting him main draw entries into eight Challenger-level events.
Looking ahead, Shah aims to break into the Top 300 by the end of the year, focusing on enhancing his physicality and consistency. His recent successes and unwavering determination position him as a promising contender for India’s Davis Cup team and a potential mainstay in the ATP Challenger circuit.
